Club Description:
The John Stark chapter of the Société Honoraire de Français (SHF) is an honor society sponsored by the American Association of the Teachers of French (AATF) for high school students enrolled in French language studies.

Any John Stark student who is enrolled in French II or higher, and who has shown evidence of proficiency with distinction in French and proficiency in all other courses, is eligible to become a member of the SHF. The SHF provides a vehicle for focusing activities around the French language and culture and offers students the opportunity to experience leadership in serving as officers, directing the initiation ceremony, and/or leading other chapter events.

Participating students work to provide community service for the worldwide Francophone community and to fundraise for this purpose through a variety of activities. In addition, SHF students work to increase awareness of the importance of the French language in their local community. Some of the highlights of SHF’s work include a day of winter “Carnaval” activities at the Weare Middle School, trips to French cultural events in the Boston area, and fundraising for ‘Partners in Health’ Haiti. In addition, SHF students offer tutoring for the peers and an “à la carte” dessert and refreshment service for the entire JS community of teachers during parent-teacher conferences.

For specific requirements of membership, please see Mr. Tissot.
