In light of the recent events that have happened in the community regarding driving, a team of teachers and administrators has been working on a program to help make students and parents aware of and promote safe driving.
The main event will happen on Wednesday October 26th juniors and seniors will attend a presentation called Room to Live brought to us through the Buckle up New Hampshire Foundation and Save a Teen Driver through the Lovering Foundation.
After the assembly John Stark will have available 2-4 computer simulators, a 15 minute experience that will have the student text, drive under the influence and deal with other distractions while driving. The simulators will be at the school Wednesday Oct 26- Friday October 28th.
The foundations have also agreed to put on another program for the parents of our students on Thursday October 27th at 7pm. Pat Moody of AAA NNE will speak about the pilot program for a device available for parents of teen drivers. The device will plug into the car recording information about the driver's driving; for example alerting parents when the driver is exceeding a speed, but parents will be able to access a portal with the records of how their teens are driving at anytime. This device is free for any AAA insured and AAA member.
In Control Crash Prevention Program, a state certified crash prevention training for drivers of all ages might also be on hand for the assembly / parent meeting. This is located in North Andover, MA and the company along with the Lovering Foundation has agreed to offer this program for $200 to any JSR student / family member. A $150 discount!
