The guidance department at John Stark Regional High School maintains a belief that students are our greatest priority and that our purpose is to foster and support the academic and social/emotional development of our students. Our goal is to be proactive in working with all students and to maintain a professional relationship with students by creating an atmosphere of respect, accessibility and confidentiality. We believe that open collaboration and effective communication is essential to our effectiveness as counselors with students, parents and staff.

The guidance department delivers the following services:
• Academic and educational planning
• Post secondary exploration and advisement
• Social/emotional counseling with students and families with issues which impede the academic success of our students, as well as helping students to cope with normal developmental issues which occur during adolescence
• Crisis intervention services within the John Stark community
• Provide referral services/resources with outside agencies
• Coordinate standardized and statewide testing
• Maintain and interpret student cumulative records
